This is a photograph of an elephant drinking from the nearby watering source. I am amazed and curious of how the photographer captured such a picture. The photo is so simple yet so powerful at the same time. It caught my eye tremendously as I flipped through the photos.
Simplicity is present . It is just the elephant with a simple background. It also could represent balance with the light and dark contrast.
He uses a Pentax67 II with a portrait and wide angle lens. This is important because it lets him control the distance and the tone of the picture.
he takes these pictures because these animals are his passion. He is fascinated with them. They also give the viewer along side himself, something amazingly beautiful to look at.
He hopes that he will cause people to be aware of what is happening to these animals and to donate to protect them.
"There is something profoundly iconic, mythological even, about the animals of East and southern Africa."- Nick Brandt
